Columbus Bar Launches Leadership Academy

Wednesday, October 3 marks the beginning of the second year of the Columbus Bar Leadership Academy. The program, which sold out most sessions last year, explores principals and techniques to help attorneys build the relationships that support a rewarding and successful law practice in central Ohio.

Four condensed sessions turn nebulous concepts such as “business development,” “networking” and “community involvement” into attainable short-term goals. Members who complete all four sessions, in any order, earn a Columbus Bar Leadership Academy Certificate. Graduation from the program establishes that the member has additional skill in negotiating important professional relationships and is committed to becoming a leader to the local legal community.

Members are not required to complete the sessions in order. Graduation follows completion of all four sessions, in any order. Please note that there are two offerings of Session 1 and 2 for your convenience and to accommodate members who were placed on a waiting list from a previous offering of the session.

The first session entitled, Getting to Know You — How to use initial conversations to build relationships with new people, will be offered on Wednesday, October 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The rest of the year’s sessions will be held on the following Wednesday evenings:

November 7, Session 2: Go fish-Setting goals and getting results from your networks

January 9, Session 1 (second offering ): Getting to Know You— How to use initial conversations to build relationships with new people

March 12, Session 3: People in your Neighborhood – The basics of the Columbus Bar and other community organizations (all attendees at previous sessions will be guaranteed a spot at this session)

April 2, Session 2 (second offering): Go fish – Setting  goals and getting results from your networks

May 21, Session 4: Playing well with others – Using relationships in an ethical, respectful and responsible manner (all attendees at previous sessions will be guaranteed a spot at this session)

Register online by clicking here. You may also print out a copy of the registration form and mail it back to us. Registration will not be complete until payment ($30/session) has been received. Dinner is included for your convenience.

Members are encouraged to register early. To retain the informal, small group dynamic, space is limited. If we receive your application after all the spaces have been filled, we will notify you and return your payment.
