CLE presenters announced for litigation series
“Twenty-seven attorneys and judges whose combined legal experience encompasses 700 years are all coming together in the Litigation Management Series to help you to become a more effective trial attorney,” states Judge Patrick E. Sheeran, organizer of the series. “Whether you are in private practice or public service, this series will help you to better prepare, present, argue, and win your case. Attorneys recognized as outstanding advocates by our legal community are taking the time to present proven methods, strategies and inside tips to give you the confidence to better serve your clients.”
The seminars will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. starting September 11 and continuing every Tuesday thereafter through November 13. Free sandwiches will be served prior to the seminar from 11:00 – 11:30 on a first-come, first served basis. This will give attorneys an opportunity to grab a light lunch before attending the series from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Of course, no food may be consumed during the seminar.
The speakers scheduled for September 11 Client Contact: Interview and Investigation; Handling Cases over My Head include Craig B. Paynter, W. Joseph Edwards, and Michael H. Gertner. On September 18 Edwin L. Kirby, Harold D. Paddock, and Hon. Patrick E. Sheeran will present Filing Procedures at the Clerk of Courts’ Office; Alternative Dispute Resolution and Settlement Week.
Civil Discovery is the topic on September 25 with Scott Elliot Smith, Curtis F. Gantz, and Hon. Richard A. Frye while Voir Dire for Civil Cases features David I. Shroyer and Belinda S. Barnes on October 2.
October 9 features two topics: Criminal Discovery and Criminal Voir Dire with speakers J. Scott Weisman, Doublas P. Stead, Mary Catherine Kurila, and Samuel H. Shamansky.
Deposition Strategies will be covered on October 16 with Harion H. Little, Jr., Elizabeth J. Watters, and Hon. John F. Bender.
Vincent J. Lodico, J. Miles Gibson, and Hon. Patrick E. Sheeran will cover Opening Statement and Direct Examination of Lay Witnesses on October 23, and Direct Examination of Experts is the domain of Rex. H. Elliott and Nancy D. Moore on October 30.
Cross Examination of Experts and Lay Witnesses on November 6 features Anne M. Valentine and Michael J. Rourke. Last of the series concludes on November 13, Closing Arguments and Jury Instruction, Stephen E. Chappelear and Frank A. Ray.
Cost of the program to members is $45, single session; entire series, $400, ($270 for paralegals) saving the attorney the price of one session.
