Litigation Management Series returns to Columbus Bar
The Litigation Management Series returns to the Columbus Bar beginning on Tuesday, September 11 and continues each Tuesday through November 13. Judge Patrick E. Sheeran, Franklin County Common Pleas Court, has planned this 10-week litigation blockbuster which is designed to take the attorney through all phases of the trial process from the first contact with the client through the closing arguments. Attorneys with little trial experience who need a primer on the trial process to seasoned attorneys looking for a refresher on trial techniques will benefit from the host of experienced trial lawyers scheduled to present at the series.
Topics to be covered during the series include:
September 11: Client Contact: Interview and Investigation; Handling Cases “over my head”
September 18: Filing Procedures at the Clerk of Court’s Office; Alternative Dispute Resolution
and Settlement Techniques
September 25: Civil Discovery
October 2: Voir Dire for Civil Cases
October 9: Criminal Discovery and Criminal Voir Dire
October 16: Deposition Strategies
October 23: Opening Statement and Direct Examination of Lay Witnesses
October 30: Direct Examination of Experts
November 6: Cross Examination of Experts and Lay Witnesses
November 13: Closing Arguments and Jury Instructions
Free sandwiches will be served prior to the seminar from 11:00 – 11:30 on a first-come, first served basis. This will give attorneys an opportunity to grab a light lunch before attending the series from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Of course, no food may be consumed during the seminar.
Cost of the program is $45 prepaid/$55 day of for members; $65 prepaid/$75 day of for non-members; and $30 prepaid/$40 day of for paralegals. The entire series may be purchased for $400 members; $585 non-members; and $270 for paralegals, saving the attorney the price of one session for signing up for the series.
