Court Appointed Counsel Reimbursement
In order to clarify the policy of the court regarding attorney compensation for court appointed counsel, the Administrative Judge makes the following order:
Attorneys seeking compensation for their services as court appointed counsel should submit their request for payment within 30 days of case termination. In the event court appointed counsel submits a request for payment beyond the 30 day deadline and the State fails to pay its share of reimbursement, the court will reduce the attorney's request for payment by the amount of unpaid State reimbursement, currently 28% of the attorney's fees.
Effective immediately the court will no longer pay counsel the unreimbursed portion of attorney fees for bills that are submitted 30 days after case termination.
