Sowald and Webster to be honored at Annual Meeting

Heather G. Sowald and Norton R. Webster are among the honorees at the 2007 annual meeting scheduled for June 8 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square. Sowald, a past Columbus Bar president, will receive the Bar Service Medal in recognition of her long history of distinguished service to the Bar. Webster will receive the 2007 Professionalism Award for his exceptional dedication to the standards of the profession of law and his integrity and humanitarian concern.

Additional awards being presented this year include the Award of Merit, the Liberty Bell Award and the News Media Award.

The Award of Merit which will be given to Rick Dove, Supreme Court of Ohio, recognizes the service of individuals in the administration of justice.

Dwight Groce, Ohio Department of Education, will be honored with the Liberty Bell Award which is given to an individual who, by extraordinary efforts in the community, has demonstrated leadership and dedication to the principles of our democratic system of government by law and who, by public respect and understanding of each citizen's duties, promotes the general welfare and secures the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

The News Media Award will go to The Columbus Dispatch. This award is given periodically to a media outlet for enhancing the public's understanding of the role of the law and lawyers in our society.

Tickets to the annual meeting are available for $40 each and tables of 10 are available for $400.
