State Auditor comes to the Bar -- May 10
~ written by John H. Jones
Auditor of State (AOS) Mary Taylor will be the guest speaker for the Government Agencies committee meeting at noon, May 10. What’s new with the Ohio Auditor of State’s office will be the topic of discussion.
With nearly 1,000 employees – more than 700 of whom are auditors – the AOS office is one of the largest accounting offices in the country. The AOS is the constitutional officer responsible for auditing all public offices in Ohio, including cities, villages, schools, universities, counties, townships; and state agencies, boards, and commissions.
Mary Taylor is the first Certified Public Accountant to serve as Ohio’s Auditor of State. She previously served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives where she represented the 43rd House District, located in Summit County. Taylor began her career in public service as a Green City councilwoman.
Taylor received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Masters of Taxation from the University of Akron. She began her career in 1990 with Deloitte and Touche, later joining the regional firm of Bober Markey Fedorovich & Company in 1994, where she served as director of the firm’s tax department and a senior manager of the employee benefits practice prior to serving in the state legislature.
