Nominations needed for Awards of Excellence
Each year, the Columbus Bar recognizes both lawyers and non-lawyers for their service to the community and the commitments they have made to increase awareness and understanding of the law. The Association Relations committee, under the leadership of Immediate Past President Sally Bloomfield, has the task of reviewing nominations and making final recommendations to the Board of Governors, but the committee needs to hear from you!
To nominate an individual for one of these prestigious awards, please send an e-mail or fax to Donna Sweet at donna@cbalaw.org or 614/221.4850 with the following information: the name of the award; the name of the nominee; a paragraph describing why you believe the individual deserves to be recognized; supporting documentation including a resume or list of activities; and your name and phone number. Nominations must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 13 to be considered for this year’s awards.
This award recognizes the service of individuals in the administration of justice. Recipients must deal directly with lawyers and must be active in this position at the present time. Eligible candidates may be lawyers or non-lawyers
This award recognizes attorneys who substantially contribute their time and effort in service to the central Ohio community. Their service must be outside the practice of law and must be given without compensation. Emphasis is placed on current service. Elected office holders are not eligible. Two awards are given: one to an attorney 36 years of age or under and one to an attorney 37 years of age or older.
This award is given to an individual who, by extraordinary efforts in the community, has demonstrated leadership and dedication to the principles of our democratic system of government by law and who, by public respect and understanding of each citizen's duties, promotes the general welfare and secures the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Eligible candidates may be lawyers or non-lawyers.
The Professionalism Award is given to an attorney in recognition of exceptional dedication to the standards of the profession and for demonstrated integrity and humanitarian concern.
This is the highest honor accorded by the Columbus Bar. It is presented to any attorney who is a member of the Columbus Bar and who has shown a long history of distinguished service to the bar.
