March CLE Madness reigns

Basketball is not the only March Madness consuming Columbus with the lineup of CLE courses being offered during March at the Columbus Bar. Be sure to not only catch up on the scores with our ongoing coverage of the games on the new flat screen TV in our lobby, but also catch up on any credits you may need to stay in compliance with the Supreme Court.

Whether planning ahead or making up for classes you did not take by year’s end, check out our lineup that begins on Wednesday, March 7 with a video replay of “Recent Developments in Employment Law - the Year in Review” from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for 3.0 CLE hours of credit. This seminar features a review of the most compelling cases of 2006.

On Friday, March 9, join us for the live presentation “Race and Gender in Trial Practice” from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This course is co-sponsored by the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers for 4.25 CLE hours and includes lunch with invited Ohio judges.

A video replay of “Setting Out Solo” with Herbert Richardson and Barbara Roubanes discussing how to strike out on your own as a solo practitioner is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. for 3.0 hours of credit.

“Taxing Matters: Tax Aspects of Divorce and Separation” will be presented live by Andrew S. Grossman and Bill Ditty on Wednesday, March 14 from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. for 1.0 CLE hours.

Tip off for the live “Ohio Nonprofit Labor and Employment Law Update: Spring Cleaning Your Employment Policies and Practices” is at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20 and concludes at 4:00 p.m., offering 5.5 hours of CLE credit.

A video replay of “Closing the Floodgates: Keeping Students with Disabilities from the Juvenile System” continues the madness on Wednesday, March 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for 3.0 hours of credit. This seminar explores how the special education system can work to divert youth from the juvenile justice system. If you missed this offering the first time, you will want to be sure to catch the video replay.

“Basic DUI from Start to Finish” as a video replay will be on Thursday, March 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for 3.0 hours of credit. Learn what you need to know in offering advice on DUI and defending cases.

Being offered on Tuesday, March 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. is “Health Care Topics: Even if You’re Not a Health Care Lawyer,” a basic level overview of health law topics designed for beginning health lawyers, attorneys who do not exclusively practice health law for a living and other practitioners interested in health topics. This course offers 3.0 hours of credit.

“The Role of the Guardian ad Litem in Juvenile Court” video replay continues our full-court press for March on Wednesday, March 28 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. for 3.0 hours of credit.

“The DaVinci Rules: New Model Rules” video replay, which offers 2.5 hours of ethics, professionalism, and substance abuse credit, takes place on Thursday, March 29 from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m.

Winding down to the Big Dance on Friday, March 30 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. will be “Bankruptcy Means Test Workshop” for 3.0 hours of credit to assist consumer bankruptcy practitioners in the accurate completion of the means test.
