2006-07 Board of Governors candidates

Twelve members of the Columbus Bar selected to run for the Board of Governors and a candidate for the office of secretary/treasurer have been recommended by the Nominations & Elections committee chaired by Past President Kimberly Callery Shumate.

Other members of the nominating committee include Janica A. Pierce, Chester Willcox & Saxbe; Chad A. Readler, Jones Day; Anthony M. Sharett, State of Ohio Commerce/Financial Institutions; and Nelson E Genshaft, Columbus Bar secretary/treasurer.

On the ballot for officer positions are Belinda S. Barnes, Lane Alton & Horst, for president; Nelson E Genshaft, Strip Hoppers Leithart McGrath & Terlecky, for president-elect; and Kathleen M. Trafford, Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, for secretary/treasurer. Only members who have been elected to at least one full term and currently serving on the Board of Governors are eligible nominees for secretary/treasurer.

Candidates nominated for first terms are David S. Bloomfield Jr., Porter Wright Morris & Arthur; Paul Giorgianni, Buckingham Doolittle & Burroughs; Thomas W. Hill, Kegler Brown Hill & Ritter; Timothy S. Horton, Chester Willcox & Saxbe; John H. Jones, Ohio Attorney General's Office, Public Utilities section; David T. Patterson, Curley Patterson & Bush; and Bradley B. Wrightsel, Wrightsel & Wrightsel. Incumbents nominated to run for a second term include Hon. James L. Graham, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; Mark M. Kitrick, Kitrick & Lewis; Stephen L. McIntosh, Chief Prosecutor, City Attorney's Office, Kristy Swope, Swope & Swope, and Gregory M. Travalio, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

According to Article VI of the Code of Regulations governing nominations and elections for the Board of Governors, additional eligible members may be nominated for a seat on the Board. A petition must be delivered to the Columbus Bar Association no later than noon on Monday, May 1, signed by at least ten voting members of the Columbus Bar whose dues for the current fiscal year are paid.

Ballots will be mailed to all voting members of the Association on May 5 and must be returned by noon on May 19.
