A TV star, a professor and an author walk into a bar…

There is no joke here – sorry. The TV star is Angela Pace of WBNS. The professor and author are one person, Arthur Greenbaum of OSU Law School. The bar is the Columbus Bar. They are walking in as newly appointed members of the Professional Ethics and Grievance committee. The only punch line is that the committee is pleased as… to have them aboard.

Angela, now that she has dropped anchor[ing], is the station’s Community Relations Director, and she is free to do good stuff like serving as a public representative on our Ethics committee (not to imply that she was not doing good stuff before). Any thought that she would be bashful in a room full of lawyers was quickly dispelled at her first meeting with the group.

Some readers will know Professor Greenbaum as the one who taught them legal ethics (or tried to). Practitioners who have traipsed to the library to grapple with a thorny ethics issue, will recognize him as the author of the Lawyer’s Guide to the Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility (soon to come out in a revised, on-line edition encompassing the new Rules of Professional Conduct). People who have met him will know that he is a witty and unstuffy guy.

The committee has always been most fortunate to attract smart, hardworking and conscientious members (lawyers and non-lawyers). The tradition continues.
