Municipal Court judges lunch with new lawyers

On Wednesday, Nov. 29at noon, the judges of the Municipal Court will join new lawyer members for an informal luncheon. A favorite of both judges and attorneys, the luncheon provides an opportunity for the two groups to interact without the tensions of litigation between them.

“The local bar is fortunate to have a judiciary that makes time to personally support and encourage new attorneys practicing in our community,” said Anthony Sharett, co-chair of the New Lawyers committee. “At this luncheon especially, the judges demonstrate that collegiality and a strong relationship between the bench and bar is just as important as court rules and procedures.”

Rebecca Price, co-chair with Sharett and a planner of the first event several years ago, has enjoyed her involvement with the luncheon. "This is an excellent opportunity to learn about pretrial and courtroom procedures before you actually have to appear before the Judge. Over the past years, I’ve really enjoyed the candid conversations with the different judges about their likes, dislikes, and most important, their advice to new attorneys,” she said.

If you’re a member of the Columbus Bar in your first five years of practice or are under the age of 36, please join us and the Municipal Court for this unique opportunity. There is no charge for this event. Please RSVP to Lara Bertsch at 614/221.4112 or lara@cbalaw.org.
