Volunteering can make a difference
Columbus Bar attorneys, social workers, barbers, health and care professionals gathered for the annual Veteran Stand Down held at Vets Memorial last month. The event is held every year and provides an opportunity for the homeless to obtain clothing, food, personal care items, medical attention and legal advice.
Volunteers were able to assist approximately fifty people. Participation was up from last year in every area of service. Legal volunteers for the event were Phillip T. Churchill, Philip H. Sheridan Jr., Marcia E. Palof, Joseph V. Maskovyak, Donna C. Mayer, William F. Ballam, Kathi Schear, Elisabeth M. Howard, Meredith A. Snyder, Jeffrey D. Fortkamp, Terrence L. Bacus, Marsha Evans, Eve M. Searls, Jane Mckelvey, Mike Allen, Jill Wojtyna, Rocky Saxbe and Jacqueline P. Gutter. Special thanks also go out to The Legal Aid Society of Columbus for coordinating efforts during this unique event.
The Columbus Bar would like to thank everyone who volunteered and encourage others to do so. If you are interested in volunteering, contact She’lia Bolding, Pro Bono Coordinator, at 614/221.4112 for other pro bono opportunities through the Columbus Bar.
