~ written by John H. Jones, Government Agencies Committee Chair
United States Attorney Gregory G. Lockhart, whose office represents the Southern District of Ohio, will be the guest speaker at the next Government Agencies committee meeting on April 26 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Columbus Bar offices. He will be speaking on federal issues (i.e. the Patriot Act, sentencing problems and prosecutions).
Lockhart was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio in August 2001 by President George W. Bush. Prior to becoming the U.S. Attorney, Lockhart served as an assistant U.S. attorney prosecuting all violations of federal law. Additionally, Lockhart was responsible for the civil defense of all lawsuits brought against the United States and its employees.
Before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, Lockhart served as an assistant Greene County prosecutor, where he prosecuted all violations of state law. Lockhart began his public practice as a police legal advisor to the Xenia and Fairborn police departments. He also maintained a private practice part-time in several different law firms during his public service career until joining the U.S. Attorney's Office.
