Leadership Academy opens doors

The Columbus Bar Leadership Academy offers its first session on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Members can register for just one session or for all four sessions required to complete the program and earn a certificate. Like its predecessor, the Barrister Leader program, the Academy focuses on leadership skills and local community involvement. Changes from the Barrister Leader program reflect the Bar’s efforts to accommodate the new attorneys’ unpredictable schedules and to focus on local connections and local leadership roles.

The first session, titled “Getting to Know You: How to Use Introductions and Initial Conversations to Build Relationships with New People,” will focus on the techniques local leaders use to begin conversations in a number of different situations, from Bar events to accidental meetings. Attendees will observe and participate in mock conversations and practice techniques with peers. For those unable to attend, the session will be offered again in the spring.

Each session will be offered twice and sessions may be completed in any order. For more information or to register, visit www.cbalaw.org or contact Lara Bertsch at 614/221.4112 or lara@cbalaw.org.
