Solo/small firm conference - a natural get-away

The Mohican Resort and Conference Center is the site of the Annual Solo/Small Practitioner Conference on July 14 and 15. Surrounded by 6,000 acres of Mohican State Forest and bordering Pleasant Hill Lake, recreation opportunities abound during the conference with choices such as boating, fishing, canoeing, swimming in the resort’s pools, hiking on miles of trails, tennis, as well as nearby horseback riding, golf, miniature golf and Amish country. This is a chance to bring the family, enjoy the outdoors, and earn 12.5 hours of CLE credit including 1.0 ethics, 1.0 professionalism, and 0.5 hours of substance abuse.

With innovative approaches to law office management and technology as the theme this year, on the first day, you will learn how to “Work Smarter, Not Harder” with Tom Ezra Clark Jr. and find out the latest in what technology has to offer for the attorney from technology gurus Barron K. Henley and Paul J. Unger of HMU Consulting. Also featured is a session on professionalism with the Supreme Court Justices Maureen O’Connor and Terrence O’Donnell, with a reception to follow.

Day two of the conference features Ezra Tom Clark in the morning and breakout sessions on law office management or technology in the afternoon. Richard A. Setterberg will discuss fee agreements and time and billing systems, while Adam R. Rinehart, along with his paralegal, will cover working effectively with your support staff during the law office management track. The technology track includes document assembly: how to automate your document generation with Barron K. Henley and eliminating the file scavenger hunt with Paul J. Unger. Ethics and substance abuse presentations complete the afternoon.

Sponsors for the event include LawyerCare, LexisNexis, Huntington, First Data, and DocMan Technologies and Office Depot.
