Life is so unpredictable …
Nothing in life is guaranteed, and without notice, anyone of us could be homeless - it does not always happen by choice. But by donating a small portion of your time - only eight hours total in twelve months - to the Homeless Project, you can help these Columbus citizens. The demand is increasing with requests to expand the project from several shelters.
A pair of volunteer attorneys interview and discuss potential legal problems with residents of four local homeless shelters that provide housing for men, women and families. Some are visited weekly, others monthly. Once the issues are determined, volunteers refer most clients to the appropriate place that can help them. That could be for further legal assistance or contact with the appropriate business or agency.
Wondering if you are prepared to volunteer? Don't worry. Training is available each year and once trained, you will be paired with an experienced volunteer for your first visit. Furthermore, you get CLE credits for your training, and it is free for those who volunteer in the project for one year (four two-hour visits to a shelter).
