Being early pays

You’ve heard that the early bird gets the worm, and that’s certainly the case with early registration for the Second Annual Solo/Small Firm Practitioners Conference on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 at Mohican State Park. If you register by June 1, you save $25 off the registration fee for this event sponsored by the Ohio Metropolitan Bar Association Consortium featuring 12.5 hours of CLE credit, including 1.0 ethics, 1.0 professionalism and 0.5 substance abuse credit.

This year’s conference is jam-packed with innovative approaches to law office management and technology. Several speakers are back by popular demand from last year’s blockbuster.

On Friday, attend to hear Ezra Tom Clark returning from Arizona to speak on “Working Smarter, Not Harder in Your Law Practice” as he discusses building and maintaining your practice and increasing your productivity and profitability. Also returning for a second year of stellar presentations are Barron K. Henley and Paul J. Unger of HMU Consulting with “Legal Technology Tips and Tricks” - everything you needed to fine-tune your practice to run productively and efficiently.

In addition to law office management and technology topics for Friday will be the appearance of Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer and Justice Terrence O’Donnell with their presentation “Current Issues in Professionalism: Views from the Ohio Supreme Court Bench,” followed by a reception with the judges.

On Saturday Tom Ezra Clark continues his “Working Smarter, Not Harder in Your Law Practice” to speak on leveraging your practice, compensation systems and dividing profits, in addition to common pitfalls of firms.

On Saturday afternoon there will be a technology track featuring Paul J. Unger with “Eliminate the File Scavenger Hunt With Electronic Document Management and Paperless Technology” followed by Barron K. Henley’s presentation on “Document Assembly - How to Automate Your Document Generation.”

Opposite the technology track is a law office management component featuring Richard A. Setterberg of Cincinnati on “Fee Agreements and Time and Billing Systems” followed by Adam R. Rinehart of Columbus on “Working Effectively with Your Support Staff.” Ethics and substance abuse sessions will round out the afternoon.

Sponsors for the event include LawyerCare, LexisNexis, Huntington, First Data and Office Depot.
