Columbus Bar Creates New Website for Judicial Candidate Information

Columbus - The Columbus Bar Association now offers a valuable new public resource to provide information about candidates running for judge in Franklin County - www.JudgetheCandidates.org.

This information, delivered in a straightforward and easy to understand format, provides candidate profiles, qualifications and links to prior bar association performance and preference polls, if applicable. The site also offers information about how Ohio judges are selected and provides additional links to information about candidates in others areas throughout Ohio, including the Supreme Court.

The Performance Poll was developed by the Columbus Bar in an effort to help maintain the high quality of our judiciary and to educate voters during an election year. These results are only available for incumbent judges who have been in office for at least one year, and are an element considered by the Columbus Bar’s Judicial Screening Committee when interviewing candidates prior to the fall elections.

The Judicial Preference Poll is a survey asking which candidates attorneys in Franklin County prefer, and the results are released before the November election.

“For over 30 years, the Columbus Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee has conducted candidate interviews and publicized non-partisan evaluations of Franklin County judicial candidates to promote the fair and effective selection of qualified judges. This site is an easy way for voters in Franklin County to get non-partisan information about the candidates running for judge so they can make an informed decision at the ballot box,” explains CBA President Bradley Wrightsel.
