Named Fund Restricted ($50,000 minimum)
This is a donor restricted fund for a single purpose such as supporting the Center for Child and Family Advocacy or CBA’s pro bono program. This Fund allows the donor to restrict the rate of distribution. It combines immediate tax benefit with the ability to support the programs and services of the Columbus Bar Foundation.
Named Fund Unrestricted ($50,000 minimum)
The donor places no restrictions on the gift and allows the Trustees to use the fund to address some of the greatest needs of the central Ohio legal community. These gifts transcend the barriers of time and changing circumstances to address emerging needs and seed programs for the future. Many of the Foundation’s most innovative programs are supported through this type of fund
Donor Advised Fund ($100,000 minimum)
The donor in conjunction with representative(s) from The CBF recommends distributions of income and principal from the Fund to support the mission of the Foundation or other charitable interests at any time. The Fund combines immediate tax benefits with the ability to support particular areas of interest consistent with the Foundation’s mission
Alton Fund has been established in the memory of Jack Alton for the educational benefit of economically disadvantaged children in the Central Ohio area. Click here to make a donation to the Alton Fund.
Chester Family Professionalism Fund supports the Chester Family Professionalism Institute.
Columbus Bar Association Alliance Fund supports the philanthropic works of the Columbus Bar Association Auxiliary such as Kids Voting, the OWjL Mock Trial program and the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy.
Columbus Bar Association Fund provides seed money and ongoing support to the philanthropic interests of the Columbus Bar Association.
Delivery of Legal Services Fund supports innovative programming such as Project Dignity (holistic domestic violence representation) and the Child Advocacy Project (securing educational and health benefits for children) at the Legal Aid Society of Columbus and/or other entities, which provide legal services to the poor of central Ohio.
John C. Elam Memorial Fund supports and recognizes professional excellence among the Legal Aid Society of Columbus staff.
Theodore L. Horst Memorial Fund supports the Columbus Bar Association’s CLE program in the areas of estate planning and probate law.
Lawyers for Justice Fund supports the staffing of the Columbus Bar Association’s pro bono programs.
Denis J. Murphy Memorial Fund supports the infrastructure needed to efficiently provide quality pro bono legal services, including facilities, training, and litigation support.
Open Books Open Minds Fund provides books, computers and other educational materials to the Franklin County Juvenile Court and Detention Facility.
Marsha Rockey Schermer Memorial Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for women and minority law students.
