Government Agencies Committee
The Government Agencies Committee consists of lawyers who work for the city, county, state or federal government agencies, and lawyers whose practice brings them in contact with the public sector. There are over 1,023 lawyers in central Ohio who work for a government agency. The Committee will encourage government lawyers to join the Columbus Bar and to participate in the activities of the Government Agencies Committee. We strive to provide opportunities for lawyers to learn about various government offices and the manner in which they provide services to its constituents. Through this endeavor, lawyers will be better able to provide legal services to their clients. The Committee will seek to achieve its mission by inviting monthly speakers to share their thoughts and ideas about the public practice of law. The Committee also hopes to provide opportunities for its members to network with public officials and other practitioners through monthly meetings and speaking engagements.
A Message from the Committee Chair:
I am honored to serve as chair of the Columbus Bar Association Government Agencies Committee! I moved to Columbus two and a half years ago after practicing in both the public and private sectors in New York and New Jersey, where I grew up. Since moving to Columbus, I have been able to connect with so many amazing attorneys. I am a huge advocate of the Columbus Bar Association and got my current job through this exact Committee upon asking one of the speakers to get coffee with me. My goal for the coming year is to bring in speakers from both the public and private sectors who can add unique and valuable perspectives to the work we do as attorneys. Benefits enjoyed by committee members include: getting to know public officials; insider introductions to the various government offices; and expanding your network of lawyers that practice in or before government agencies. We welcome lawyers in public service and those in private practice!
