Court and Clerk's Office Closures on January 19 and 20
The Franklin County Common Pleas Court (General Division and DRJ) and the Franklin County Clerk of Court's Office will be closed to the public on January 19 and 20 due to planned protests in the downtown area. Please note that the Courts and Clerk's Office will also be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. More information will be added to this page as we receive it.
Franklin County Common Pleas Court, General Division
Based upon the potential for inauguration-related protests and the associated security risks, the Franklin County Common Pleas Court – General Division is modifying court operations to ensure the safety of the public, judicial officers, and employees.
For those who may have in-person business with the Court, the Court will be operating as follows on Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
Franklin County Common Pleas Court, Domestic Relations & Juvenile Division
- All in-person proceedings and services are cancelled.
The Courthouse (345 S. High Street) will not be open to the public.
- This includes, but is not limited to, hearings, trials, arraignments, protection orders, Grand Jury, and probation and assignment office services.
- Grand Jurors should not report.
- All Court and probation virtual operations will be conducted as scheduled, unless otherwise notified of cancellation. Employees will be handling these matters remotely.
The Court will be closed on Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20.
Aside from the CPO Help Desk, the Court will remain open
on Friday, January 15. Furthermore, the Duty Juvenile Magistrate will conduct JIC file reviews on Monday morning.

The Clerk's Office will be closed Monday, January 18 – Wednesday, January 20 amid planned demonstrations in downtown Columbus.
